Ciyouqi Privacy Policy

Updated: 2026-10-24 · Effective: 2026-10-24 · 2026.10

Shanghai Finite Learning Technologies Co., Ltd. (registered address: Area A, 13th Floor, Building 3, No. 2875 Huqingping Highway, Zhaoxiang Town, Qingpu District, Shanghai; hereinafter “we” or “us”) is the developer and operator of Ciyouqi (iOS version) (the “App”).

We value your personal information and privacy. This policy explains how we process personal information when you use the App and how you may exercise your rights. Please pay particular attention to content marked “necessary,” “optional,” “sensitive personal information,” or “minor.”

Before you enter registration, sign-in, or the main functions, the App displays the Ciyouqi Terms of Service and Ciyouqi Privacy Policy. You must select your age group truthfully according to your actual age. If you are actually under 14, or if our relevant processing involves the personal information of a child under 14, you must read and accept the Ciyouqi Children's Privacy Policy together with a guardian, and the guardian must complete the consent statement in the App. You may enter registration, sign-in, and the main functions only after the applicable legal documents have been expressly accepted. WeChat and QQ third-party sign-in SDK registration, authorization, and network calls occur after you have accepted the applicable legal documents; the relevant authorization function is not called unless you actively initiate sign-in. For processing activities for which laws and regulations require separate consent, we will obtain the corresponding consent before processing in accordance with law.

If you do not accept the applicable legal documents, please stop registering, signing in, and using all services provided by the App. Where the processing involves the personal information of a child under 14, if the child's legal guardian does not accept the applicable children's privacy rules, please also stop registering, signing in, and using the relevant services.

Language and Regional Statement

The App currently provides services only to users in Mainland China. The Simplified Chinese version is the formal version and has legal effect. The English and Japanese versions are reference translations provided only to help international users in Mainland China understand the App. If the language versions differ, the Simplified Chinese version prevails.

Privacy Policy Summary

For a quick overview of this policy, the core rules are:

  • Account and synchronization: Registration or sign-in requires processing the email address, mobile number, or third-party sign-in identifier you choose. After sign-in, vocabulary books, word progress, review scheduling, quiz answers, incorrect answers, learning time, statistics, settings, and subscription benefits are associated with your account and synchronized to our server;
  • Optional functions: Notifications, recommending to friends/sharing the App, feedback, third-party sign-in, and one-tap sign-in are initiated or selected by you. When you do not use these functions, the App does not initiate processing for them;
  • Purchases and subscriptions: Apple, as the provider of the App Store and related payment and subscription services, processes payment-account and platform transaction information under its applicable rules. We receive and process necessary transaction results such as product, transaction, purchase/expiration, subscription/renewal status, benefit status, and account-binding identifiers for purchase verification and subscription-benefit purposes;
  • Children's protection: Processing involving the personal information of a child under 14 requires the guardian to personally complete a consent statement in the App. The detailed rules are in the Ciyouqi Children's Privacy Policy;
  • Your rights: You may access, correct, copy, or delete personal information, withdraw consent to specific personal-information processing activities, or disable relevant system permissions. If you use Sign in with Apple, Sign In with WeChat, or Sign In with QQ, the relevant sign-in authorization is handled by the corresponding platform under its rules. You may also delete your account through “Me > About Ciyouqi > Delete Account.” Deleting a Ciyouqi account does not automatically cancel an Apple auto-renewing subscription;
  • Contact: To exercise rights or submit a complaint, contact support@finitelearning.com. We generally respond within 15 business days.

The summary is provided for convenience and does not replace the full rules below. Specific fields, retention periods, and third-party recipients are also described in the Ciyouqi Personal Information Collection List; client-side third-party SDKs are described in the Ciyouqi Third-Party SDK Directory.

1. Scope of Application

This policy applies to the App's account, vocabulary learning, review and quizzes, learning statistics, cloud synchronization, subscriptions, feedback, and related security functions.

This policy does not apply to products or services independently provided by third parties. When you actively select Sign in with Apple, Sign In with WeChat, Sign In with QQ, one-tap mobile-number sign-in, App Store purchases, or another third-party function, or when the App refreshes subscription status to maintain purchased benefits, the relevant third party may also process necessary information under its privacy rules. The scope of processing by those platforms and services is described in this policy and the Ciyouqi Personal Information Collection List; client-side SDKs are described in the Ciyouqi Third-Party SDK Directory.

2. How We Collect and Use Personal Information

2.1 Legal-Document Consent, Age Group, and Guardian Statement

To record your compliance choices, we process:

  • Your selected age group (under 14 or 14 and above);
  • The identifier, version, language, source, and time of consent for the applicable legal documents;
  • Where the processing involves the personal information of a child under 14, the version of the Ciyouqi Children's Privacy Policy and the time when the guardian completed the consent statement in the App.

This information is used to determine the applicable minor-protection rules, retain consent records, and handle policy updates. For users actually under 14, the guardian must personally read and complete the in-app consent statement. Without the completed statement, registration, sign-in, and the main functions cannot be accessed.

2.2 Registration, Sign-In, and Account Security

Depending on what the page actually offers, you may register or sign in as follows:

  • Sign In with WeChat: The App processes the account identifier, nickname, and sign-in binding returned by WeChat authorization; authentication credentials are processed through the relevant authentication process;
  • Sign In with QQ: The App processes the account identifier, nickname, and sign-in binding returned by QQ authorization; authentication credentials are processed through the relevant authentication process;
  • Sign in with Apple: We retain the Apple user identifier and the name or email that you authorize Apple to provide; authentication credentials are processed through the relevant authentication process;
  • One-tap mobile-number sign-in: The App processes the verification result and the mobile number obtained through verification. The Alibaba Cloud Number Verification SDK and relevant mobile operators may process device, network, and other technical information necessary for verification under their rules;
  • Mobile SMS sign-in: We retain the mobile number and verification status; SMS verification codes are processed through the verification process;
  • Email registration or sign-in: We retain the email address, securely stored password value, and verification status. Email verification information is cleared or replaced upon successful verification, resending, or account deletion; password-reset information is cleared after the reset is completed.

You may set or change your nickname.

Sign-in credentials are account-security information. We use secure local storage on the device to retain necessary device-side credentials. Do not disclose verification codes, passwords, or sign-in credentials to others.

2.3 Account Identifiers, Profile, and Security Status

After an account is created, we generate an internal account identifier, a user-visible UID, and the account creation time, and retain your nickname, account-verification status, sign-in bindings, and necessary security status that you set. This is used to distinguish accounts, display profile information, support multi-device sign-in, manage sign-in status, and manage account security.

Do not enter sensitive personal information unrelated to learning in your nickname.

During email verification, password reset, and feedback notifications, we record the email type, sending status, sending time, and necessary delivery-processing information to support reliable delivery, limit abuse, and troubleshoot email problems.

2.4 Vocabulary Book Browsing, Dictionary Search, and Learning Content

When you browse vocabulary books or units or search the dictionary, we process your selected learning language, vocabulary-book or unit identifier, search term, matching method, and result count to query and display the relevant content. Search terms are processed only to complete the query, and no separate long-term search history is created.

Do not enter names, mobile numbers, identification numbers, or other information unrelated to vocabulary searches in the dictionary search field.

2.5 Word Progress, Review Records, and Cloud Synchronization

To provide word learning, memory scheduling, progress recovery, and cross-device synchronization, we process:

  • The selected learning language, vocabulary books, vocabulary-book addition status, and learning preferences;
  • Word identifiers, the relevant word set or learning language, mastery status, and learning status;
  • Memory-algorithm stability, difficulty, review count, forgetting count, latest score, review interval, and previous and next review times;
  • Review time, score, correctness, new-word/review/practice markers, and the corresponding session;
  • Words learned each day, learning budget, goal-completion status, and review plan.

These data are associated with your Ciyouqi account and stored in the App's local cache and our cloud service for core learning functions and synchronization.

Network interruptions, device-clock differences, request retries, or learning on multiple devices at the same time may cause brief display delays or conflicts. The server merges records according to session identifiers, event identifiers, update times, and idempotency rules. Until synchronization is complete, do not repeatedly delete the App or perform conflicting operations on the same learning session across multiple devices.

2.6 Quizzes, Incorrect Answers, and Learning

To generate and verify quizzes, arrange focused practice for incorrect words, and calculate learning results, we process:

  • Quiz, round, question-card, and event identifiers;
  • Word identifiers, quiz types (such as seeing a word and identifying its meaning, identifying meaning from sound, seeing meaning and identifying a word, or spelling), difficulty, prompts, and language settings;
  • Your submitted answer, the correct answer, whether it is correct, subjective score, and answer time;
  • Challenge rounds, practice markers, accuracy, error count, forgetting count, and incorrect-word list;
  • Learning type, status, start and completion time, active learning time, paused time, idle time, total time, word count, and completion status.

An “incorrect-answer record” is not information that we separately require you to provide; it is generated from learning behavior such as incorrect answers and forgetting during quizzes and reviews. It is used to display difficult words, arrange challenge rounds, and improve later reviews, and is not used to evaluate your education, employment, credit, or other matters.

2.7 Learning Settings, Statistics, Vocabulary Milestones, and Simulations

To save your preferences and generate learning feedback, we process:

  • Interface language, target learning language, daily new-word goal, and review preferences;
  • Quiz type and difficulty, definition/example language, automatic pronunciation for vocabulary books, audio preferences, speech speed, and interface settings;
  • Mastery standard, maximum review interval, words per unit, learning order, statistics-page order, and vocabulary-book management settings;
  • Notification preferences;
  • Daily learning volume, accumulated learning time, consecutive study days, accuracy, memory retention, learning efficiency, difficult words, and vocabulary milestones;
  • Predictions, simulations, and recommendations generated to help you assess goals or learning burden.

Some of these settings are stored on the device and some are synchronized with the account. Memory-algorithm parameters and statistical models automatically calculate the next review time, difficulty, and recommendations based on your learning records. Algorithm results, statistical models, predictions, simulations, and recommendations are learning aids and may be affected by sample size, device time, and data completeness.

2.8 Recommending to a Friend and System Sharing

When you actively tap “Recommend to a Friend,” “Share the App,” or copy related content, the App provides recommendation text, an App Store link, and a user-visible UID, or generates learning-statistics and vocabulary-milestone images. It then invokes the iOS system share sheet or writes the content to the system clipboard. The content is sent to the relevant third party only after you select a specific recipient app; copied content is written only to the system clipboard. The recipient's handling is governed by the rules of the app you select. The App does not read existing clipboard content, record recipients or actual sending results, or save shared content on the server.

2.9 Subscriptions, Purchase Restoration, and Offer Abuse Prevention

When you view, purchase, restore, or manage a subscription, or when the App calls App Store services to confirm offer eligibility or refresh subscription status, Apple, as the provider of the App Store and related payment and subscription services, processes payment-account and platform transaction information under its applicable rules. The App receives only product, transaction, and subscription-status information used to verify transactions, confirm offer eligibility, grant benefits, restore purchases, and handle after-sales matters, together with identifiers used to bind the purchase to an App account.

To confirm eligibility for limited subscription offers and prevent repeated claims, the App may, when necessary, use Apple's app-security verification mechanisms and process the corresponding security-verification information, verification results, and offer-claim status.

After account deletion, we remove the association between the offer-claim status and the account. To prevent repeated claims, device-scope claim status without an account association is retained only for the offer's duration or the shortest reasonable period needed to handle transaction disputes or prevent abuse, and is deleted or anonymized after the purpose is completed.

2.10 User Feedback, Reports, and Customer Service

When you submit an issue through in-app feedback, we process:

  • Feedback content and issue category;
  • App version, iOS version, and interface language;
  • The user identifier associated with your account and the verified reply email already held in the account, if any;
  • Necessary submission and processing information.

This information is used to locate problems, reply to feedback, and improve services. Do not submit identification documents, financial-account information, precise location, or other sensitive personal information unrelated to the issue in feedback.

If you tap “Email Us,” the system opens the email app you select. The email provider handles the email address, body, and attachments under its rules. The email is not directly written to the App's feedback database.

If you use the illegal and harmful-information reporting entry point, the system likewise opens the email app, where you actively compose and send the message. This entry point is primarily for reporting App content, services, or other issues relating to the App.

2.11 Operation Logs, Security, and Troubleshooting

When you access our server interfaces, the server automatically processes necessary operation and security logs, which may include source IP, request time, request result, client version, and error summary. This information is used to protect network and account security, troubleshoot, prevent attacks, and conduct necessary audits, and is retained according to the actual log category and necessary period.

2.12 Notifications and Voice Playback

The App uses iOS notification permission only after you actively allow it to provide study reminders and applicable subscription-status reminders. Notification content and schedules are mainly stored on the device. You may turn off notifications at any time in iOS “Settings > Notifications > Ciyouqi.”

The App uses iOS system text-to-speech to play word pronunciations and does not collect or record your voice; this function does not require microphone permission.

3. How We Entrust Processing, Share, Transfer, and Publicly Disclose Personal Information

3.1 Entrusted Processing and Sharing

To provide sign-in, SMS, one-tap authentication, cloud services, email, subscriptions, app security, and operation diagnostics, we provide service providers with information necessary for the relevant functions or allow them to process necessary information directly through SDKs. The recipients, information scope, purposes, and retention periods are described in the Ciyouqi Personal Information Collection List; SDK names, purposes, and related privacy rules are described in the Ciyouqi Third-Party SDK Directory.

We require entrusted processors, through contracts, configuration, access controls, and security assessments, to process information only as agreed. When you actively use Apple, WeChat, QQ, or another platform's function, you are also subject to that platform's privacy rules. Apple subscription services may process necessary information under their rules when the App refreshes subscription status. The relevant processing relationships are governed by this policy, the Ciyouqi Personal Information Collection List, the Ciyouqi Third-Party SDK Directory, and third-party rules.

3.2 Transfer

In principle, we will not transfer your personal information. If a merger, division, reorganization, asset transfer, or other event changes the personal information processor, we will inform you of the recipient's name and contact information and require the recipient to remain bound by this policy. If the recipient changes the processing purpose or method, consent will be obtained again as required by law.

3.3 Public Disclosure

We will not publicly disclose your personal information unless we have obtained your separate consent or laws and regulations provide otherwise.

3.4 Circumstances Not Requiring Separate Consent

To the extent permitted by law, we may process necessary information where it is necessary to conclude or perform a contract to which you are a party, perform legal obligations, respond to a public-health emergency, urgently protect the life, health, or property of a natural person, or process information that you have made public or that has otherwise been lawfully disclosed.

4. Storage Location and Retention Period

4.1 Storage Location

The production databases for the App's self-built account and learning services are deployed in Mainland China. Local device data is stored on your iOS device.

4.2 Retention Period

  • Account profile, sign-in bindings, learning data, cloud-synchronization data, subscription-benefit mappings and in-App benefit status, together with Apple transaction records associated with the account, App Store notification events, and legal-consent records: retained during the account lifetime and as needed to provide services; deleted according to the account-deletion process after account deletion. To prevent repeated claims, account-unlinked offer-abuse-prevention status is retained for the corresponding period and is not used to identify or restore a deleted account;
  • Original quiz answers, incorrect answers, learning sessions, detailed settings, statistics, and vocabulary milestones: retained during the account lifetime and as needed for the corresponding functions; deleted or unlinked from the account after account deletion;
  • Dictionary search terms: processed only to complete the query; no separate long-term search history is created;
  • Email verification information: cleared or replaced upon successful verification, resending, or account deletion; password-reset information is cleared after the reset is completed;
  • SMS verification codes: processed through the verification process and cleared after verification is completed;
  • Email-verification and password-reset delivery status: retained during the account lifetime and as needed to ensure delivery; deleted after account deletion;
  • In-app feedback: usually 24 months; deleted together with the account upon account deletion, except where otherwise required by law;
  • Server operation logs: processed for the period required by the actual log category, security protection, troubleshooting, and necessary auditing;
  • App local cache: retained until you sign out, delete the relevant cache, delete the account, or uninstall the App. Items in secure local storage may remain on the device after uninstallation according to system behavior; you may erase the device through the system or contact us;
  • Information held by Apple, WeChat, QQ, Alibaba Cloud Number Verification, SMS, email, cloud-infrastructure, and other relevant services: processed under the relevant third party's rules and the period agreed with us.

After the retention period is reached, we delete or anonymize personal information. Where laws and regulations require continued retention, we retain it only for the statutory period and to the necessary extent, and restrict other uses.

4.3 Discontinuation of All or Major Services

If legal or policy requirements, commercial arrangements, or technical conditions require us to stop all or major services, we will stop collecting personal information and notify users through an in-App announcement or other prominent means. After the statutory retention period expires, we will delete or anonymize the relevant personal information; where laws and regulations provide otherwise, we will follow those provisions.

5. How We Protect Personal Information

We adopt security measures appropriate to processing risks, including encrypted transmission, applicable storage encryption or de-identification, access controls, least privilege, authentication, log auditing, backup protection, and security updates. Passwords are not stored in plaintext, and necessary sign-in credentials are stored in secure local storage on the device.

The internet cannot guarantee absolute security. If a personal-information breach, alteration, or loss occurs or may occur, we will promptly take remedial measures and notify the relevant authorities and affected users as required by law of the type of incident, possible harm, measures taken, and recommendations for reducing risk, except where the law permits individual notification to be omitted.

6. Your Personal Information Rights

To the extent provided by law, you have the rights to know and decide, restrict or refuse processing, and access, copy, correct, supplement, and delete personal information, withdraw consent to specific personal-information processing activities, delete your account, and request an explanation of processing rules.

6.1 Access, Correction, and Supplement

You can view account and learning information in the App and change your nickname on the profile page. For email, mobile number, third-party sign-in bindings, or other information that cannot be changed by yourself, contact us at support@finitelearning.com.

6.2 Copy or Transfer

You may use the contact information in this policy to request access, copying, correction, deletion, or other personal-information rights. After completing necessary identity verification and clarifying the scope of the request, we will process it within the scope and period provided by applicable law. For a request beyond the App's processing scope, involving another person's legitimate rights, restricted by a statutory retention obligation, or one that laws permit us not to provide, we will explain the specific reason. A personal-information transfer request will be accommodated only where the statutory conditions are met.

6.3 Withdraw Consent to Specific Processing and Disable Relevant Permissions

“Withdrawal of consent” in this section means only withdrawal of consent to a specific personal-information processing activity; it does not mean withdrawal of your reading, acknowledgment, or acceptance of this policy or the Terms of Service. If you no longer accept this policy or the Terms of Service, you should stop registering, signing in, and using the App and follow the account-deletion process.

You may disable notification permission in iOS system settings. If you use Sign in with Apple, Sign In with WeChat, or Sign In with QQ, manage the relevant sign-in authorization through the method provided by the corresponding platform. Management and revocation of authorization held by those platforms is handled by the platforms under their rules. To withdraw consent to a specific personal-information processing activity, contact us using the information in this policy. After relevant authorization is withdrawn, we will stop the corresponding subsequent processing; withdrawal does not affect the validity of processing carried out on the basis of consent before withdrawal. If the information is necessary to provide an account, synchronization, or security function, refusal or withdrawal may prevent the corresponding function from continuing.

6.4 Delete Personal Information and Delete the Account

In the App, go to “Me > About Ciyouqi > Delete Account,” read the consequences, and confirm. After a successful request, we process account deletion according to applicable law, this policy, and the account-deletion process. Account data, learning records, quizzes and incorrect answers, statistics, settings, feedback, sign-in credentials, and subscription-benefit mappings generally cannot be recovered. Apple transaction records, App Store notification events, and legal-consent records associated with the account are handled according to the deletion process. Information that must be retained by law or is necessary to protect legitimate rights is isolated and used only for statutory purposes; account-unlinked device offer-claim status is handled as described in this policy.

Deleting a Ciyouqi account does not automatically cancel the auto-renewing subscription managed by Apple. Before deleting the account, go to iPhone “Settings > your name > Subscriptions” or Apple's subscription-management page to cancel it separately. After cancellation, subscription benefits generally continue until the end of the current billing period; see Apple's page for details.

If in-App deletion fails, you may submit a request to support@finitelearning.com. We will verify account ownership and respond within 15 business days, unless another period is required by law.

6.5 Complaints and Responses

You may submit a request or complaint using the contact information at the end of this policy. To protect account security, we may request necessary verification information appropriate to the request. If identity cannot be verified, the request is outside the App's processing scope, another person's legitimate rights are involved, or laws permit refusal, we will explain the specific reason.

After a natural person's death, close relatives may exercise rights provided by law over the deceased person's personal information for legitimate and proper interests, unless the deceased made other arrangements during life.

7. Protection of Minors

Users under 18 should read and use the App under the guidance of a guardian.

Personal information of minors under 14 is sensitive personal information. Before a child uses the App, the guardian must read and accept the Ciyouqi Children's Privacy Policy together with the child and personally complete the guardian consent statement in the App. We process children's personal information according to the principles of minimum necessity, clear purpose, security, and priority of the child's interests.

If the guardian does not agree, please do not let the child register, sign in, or use the services provided by the App. If a guardian discovers that a child has provided information to us without consent, the guardian may contact support@finitelearning.com to request deletion.

8. Policy Updates

We update this policy according to functions, SDKs, processing activities, or legal requirements. General adjustments will be indicated through an in-App page or announcement. When the processing purpose, method, information categories, third-party recipients, or children's-information rules undergo a material change, we will notify you prominently and obtain your consent again when required by law. We will not use “continued use” alone as a substitute for express or separate consent required by law.

The current version number and effective date can be viewed on the App's legal-document page.
